Sorry, should have posted this sooner.

After over 2 years of monitoring Okotoks and surrounds weather, we felt it was now time for our daily report to come to an end. Hopefully, the historical data on this site will still help those looking to move out to Calgary and surrounds, be that to visit or to settle here, hopefully using Eamonn's excellent REALTOR & Relcoation service.

For those of you that we know check in regularly, we are very grateful for the support you have given us and we will continue to let you know of any unusual weather, freak storms or difficulties that we encounter, due to the weather, on our Jan and Eam's News blog.

It was quite a mild start and +0.1 by 9.30am. It was quite a bright first thing but it clouded over fairly quickly. We had a very brief storm at around 2.30pm, where the wind quickly picked up and it started to snow. It was over in less than 30mins and the sun was shining again.

It was around -3.5 first thing and it was very bright and sunny. The sky was bright blue and cloudless. It warmed up to around +6 and it was quite nice in the sunshine.

It was around -7 first thing and it did seem to be warming up, but it still felt quite cold. It was quite a bright day, but it wasn't very sunny. We had the following weather warning in place, but we didn't get any of it.

Wind warning for: Okotoks, High River & Claresholm
Westerly winds 80 gusting 110 km/h this afternoon.

A Pacific disturbance moving across Alberta today will generate strong westerly winds in the Crowsnest Pass region, western sections of Cardston region and southwestern sections of Okotoks region. Winds of 70 gusting to 110 km/h will develop this afternoon and expected to diminish in the evening.

It had snowed lightly overnight, but not as much as we might have thought. It was -13 first thing and cloudy to start with although it did brighten up briefly and it didn't feel too bad on the whole.

It was a much colder start at around -10. It was a bright and sunny day on the whole, and the snow was still melting when in the sunshine. The day took a turn for the worst very quickly at around 4pm and it looked as though we might have some snow. The temperature was also beginning to drop quite quickly.

It was a very mild start and +2 at 9am and the snow was already continuing to melt. It was quite a cloudy start but there was blue sky over the mountains. The skies continued to clear and the sun was shining for most of the day. It was showing +10 on our front porch at noon and around +6 elsewhere.
There was a lovely red sky as the sun was setting too.

It was lovely and sunny and felt quite pleasant out and snow was continuing to melt. Temperatures reached around +5 and it felt quite nice in the sunshine. The wind started to pick up at around 2.30pm but it was still warm.

It was another white and snowy start, it had snowed a fair bit overnight. It was -12 at 8.30am and it didn't really get any warmer. We had to shovel the drive again this morning and several times throughout the day. It snowed on and off all day and without any sunshine it felt very cold. The roads were in very poor condition, which is quite unusal for this time of year.

It was quite a stormy night and we lost power at around half past midnight, but it was only off for an a couple of hours. We woke up to thick snow on the driveway (about 7inches) which was quite wet and heavy. It was -6 first thing and road conditions were quite poor with slipper conditions and poor visibility.

It was a fairly pleasant start at +3. There was a fair bit of cloud, but that was beginning to clear by mid-morning and we had quite clear blue sky by noon. Temperatures reached around +7 and it was quite nice in the sunshine, but quite cold out of it.

It started to sleet at around 10pm and it quickly turned into snow. It got quite heavy and looked to be set in for the night.

There is a weather warning in place for: Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds & Sundre

10 to 15 cm of snow expected tonight into Tuesday morning.

An Alberta clipper is forecast to develop near Calgary tonight tracking southeastwards into Nebraska by Tuesday evening. Snow will develop along the northern foothills this evening spreading southeastwards to the Cypress Hills overnight. Snowfall amounts along the foothills are expected to be near 10 to 15 cm with up to 20 cm near the Cypress Hills. Strong northerly winds will develop behind the clipper with gusts to 70 km/h over Southeastern Alberta. These winds will combine with falling snow to give reduce visibilities in blowing snow. Heaviest snow will taper off Tuesday morning for the foothills and Tuesday afternoon over the Cypress Hills.

The system is currently developing over the gulf of Alaska and will move into Alberta this evening. Given the rapid motion of the system there is still some uncertainty to the storm track. The regions of Calgary, Drumheller and Claresholm are currently expected to see 5 to 10 cm of snow. As the system approaches through the day snow fall amounts will be further refined and warnings may be adjusted based on updated storm tracks.

It was a fairly and only +3 at around 7.30am. It was quite a grey and dull start and it had started to snow by around 8.30am. Temperatures had also dropped to +1 by 9am.

It snowed until about noon and it was quite heavy at times and beginning to settle. By around noon it had stopped and it started to brighten up. We had a sunny afternoon with lots of sunshine, but temperatures only reached about +5 so still quite cool.

We didn't get the snow predicted here in Okotoks, but parts of Calgary did and road conditions were quite bad in placed. It was a dull and wet start and bitterly cold again. It did try and brighten up in the afternoon and when the sun shone, it made such a difference to the temperature. It didn't last long though and the day was mainly dull and cold.
