It was a bright and sunny start to the day and +7 at 8.30am. It clouded over around lunchtime, but it was still +12 and by early afternoon all the cloud had cleared again.

It was a bright and sunny day on the whole but very windy. It wasn't cold though.

There is currently a Weather warning in place:
Wind warning for Okotoks, High River, Claresholm

Strong winds developing early this evening.

A low pressure system just east of Red Deer has combined with a cold front crossing Southern Alberta to generate strong winds over almost all areas of the southern province this evening. Most regions of Southern Alberta east of the Rockies and foothills have seen west winds of 60 to 70 km/h with gusts near 90 km/h. In a few localities these winds may give reduced visibilities in blowing dust.

Winds will gradually diminish this evening from the southwest as the system moves into east Central Alberta.

It started to snow at around 5.30pm and road conditions in Calgary and North of Calgary were terrible. The temperature dropped rapidly and the wind was freezing.

There were reports of a 54 car pile up in one area and electricity went out at the airport, which meant cancelled flights and in the NE leaving 51,000 without power.

However, Okotoks and High River got off very lightly with virtually nothing.
