It was bright start with hardly any cloud. It was around + 24 by late morning. It did cloud over a bit in the afternoon but it was still very hot.

There was a warning issued on the radio this afternoon that a tournado had touched down in Sundre and was moving South East.

CALGARY HERALD ARTICLE
Environment Canada has confirmed a tornado touched down 25 kilometres west-northwest of Sundre. The storm has now been downgraded to a severe thunderstorm warning.

According to early reports, no one was hurt and no property damaged after the tornado made contact with the ground in a field near James River Bridge.

The thunderstom warning and watches are in place for most of Southern Alberta.

It was bright start with a bit of light cloud. It was around +17 at 8.30am and rose to around +22. We had another thunder storm watch in place this evening, but we didn't see anything of it.

It was bright and warm start with a bit of light cloud. Temperatures rose to +27 and it was very hot. We started to get rumblings of thunder at around 7pm when it clouded over.

A warm and humid airmass over the province today is producing intense thunderstorms this evening. These storms have developed along the foothills and will slowly move eastward. The main concerns with these storms are marble to quarter sized hail, heavy downpours, and strong gusty winds.

It was bright start with a fair bit of light cloud. It was +17 at 8.30am and rose to +23. The cloud cleared and it was sunny and hot. It was quite breezy so it felt very pleasant.

It was bright and sunny start with a few fluffy white clouds. It was hot and sunny for most of the day until early evening when it began to cloud over. It started to rain at around 8pm and it started to thunder and feel as though it might be quite stormy.

It was bright, sunny and cloudless start to the day with a clear blue sky. It was very hot and +20 by mid-day. Temperatures continued to rise throughout the afternoon and it was +27 by 5pm. It was a lovely summer day.

It was a fairly bright start to the day with some cloud. It was very warm, but we did get a brief storm at around 1pm when the wind picked up and it started to rain lightly. It didn't hang around though and was over within the hour.

It got very dark at around 8.30pm and it became very stormy, the wind picked up and there was thunder and lightning.

It was a bright, sunny & warm start to the day. It was quite hot and temperatures reached around +22. It clouded over a bit in the afternoon and it looked as though it might become quite stormy, but nothing materialised.

We did get a thunder shower late in the evening at around 10.30pm.

A cold front through Southern Alberta will combine with an upper level impulse crossing the Rocky Mountains to produce thunderstorms in Southern Alberta. The most intense thunderstorms are expected to be in the Medicine Hat, Coronation and Brooks region and could produce a tornado.

It was another overcast and windy start to the day and it was +14 by 9am and felt fairly cool. By around 2pm it had warmed up to +21 and the skies had finally started to clear. Within an hour or so there was lots of blue sky and sunshine and temperatures rose to around +21.

It was a fairly overcast and windy start to the day and it was only +10 by 10am, so much cooler than it had been. It started to rain at around 2pm which continued well into the evening. It felt OK in the morning but the wind throughout the afternoon made it feel quite cold.

There are weather warnings all over the northern part of southern Alberta, but does not currently include Calgary and Okotoks.

Rainfall Warnings: Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds & Sundre

Upwards of 100 millimetres of rain for some areas by tonight.

A low pressure system near Lloydminster this morning continues to produce significant rainfall amounts over Central and Southern Alberta today. Stettler has reported over 70 millimetres of rain since Monday evening. A further 40 to 60 millimetres of rain is forecast for parts of Southern Alberta through tonight.

This system is also producing strong wind gusts up to 90 km/h in areas east of Red Deer. Gusts should be intermittent and are expected to diminish later today as the system weakens.

It was a fairly overcast start to the day, but it was very warm and temperatures reached around +23. It started to get very windy at around 3pm and by around 5pm it had gone quite dark. It started to rain quite heavily and we had some thunder and lightning. With the wind and the rain, the temperature dropped dramatically to around +12 and it felt really quite cold. There were TV reports showing golf ball sized hail falling in Calgary, which did quite a lot of damage to cars and some buildings.

There is currently a severe thunderstorm warning in Calgary, but Okotoks has not been inncluded in the warnings.

MDT radar shows a strong thunderstorm just northwest of Strathmore moving eastward at 20 km/h. This storm can produce large hail and heavy downpours. Golf ball size hail has been reported with this storm. This storm will continue to produce large hail and heavy downpours.

This is a warning that severe thunderstorms are imminent or occurring in these regions. Remember that some severe thunderstorms produce tornadoes. Listen for updated warnings.

An unstable moist airmass combined with strong winds is capable of producing severe thunderstorms in Southern Alberta. These storms can give large hail and heavy downpours.

It was a fairly cool start, with mainly blue sky and a bit of light white cloud. As the day went on temperatures rose from +15 in the morning to +19 by the afternoon. It was generally quie a nice day.
