It was a bright start, with a bit of light, patchy cloud and it was +3 at 8.30am. It was quite breezy, but it didn't feel too cold today. Just a few days ago, the whole lake was looking as though it had a covering of ice on it. After the last few warmer days, a fair bit has melted off.

The wind had really picked up by mid-day and there was the following weather warning in place:

Wind warning for Okotoks, High River & Claresholm

Strong west to southwesterly winds of 70 to 100 km/h are occurring over the southwestern foothills. Winds are expected to diminish this afternoon but may return overnight as a second weather system moves across the northern sections of Alberta.

Waterton Park Gate - 106 km/h
