It was bright and sunny start to the day, with a bit of light patchy cloud. It was +8 at 8.30am and felt quite mild. It was still very windy though, with predictions of wind gusts up to 100km per hour. It remained very windy for most of the day. Temperatures reached +17, but it cooled down dramatically by around 5pm when it felt really quite cold.

Strong westerly winds gusting to 90 km/h are forecast.

A cold front will pass through Southern Alberta today giving strong westerly winds. Winds gusting to 90 km/h or greater are expected throughout much of Southern Alberta. Winds will gradually diminish this evening.

A few peak winds in Southern Alberta as of noon include:
Claresholm - 94 km/h
Lethbridge - 93 km/h
Calgary - 83 km/h.
