It was quite a cloudy start to the day today and -5 at 8.30am. There was some lifting fog on the drive to work, but by around 9.30am the cloud was clearing and blue sky could be seen. The wind really picked up around mid-morning and there was a weather warning in effect, advising people to take necessary safety precautions in the High River, Okotoks and Claresholm areas.

It was +11 at around mid-day, but it began to snow early afternoon for the rest of the day.

It was -3 on the drive home at 5pm and a second weather warning had been issued at 4.4.5pm for Calgary, Okotoks, High River, Claresholm, Airdrie, Cochrane, Strathmore, Vulcan, Lethbridge.

A band of heavy snow along a cold front is sweeping south through
Southern Alberta. Behind this front strong winds with gusts up to
80 km/h are creating blowing snow with near zero visibilities.
These poor visibilities are expected to last for a brief time as the
front goes through. Conditions will improve later this evening.

Further details follow in the upcoming revised public forecast.
